March 1, 2019

I was honored once again to be published in the March addition of Landscape Photography Magazine, a high quality international publication.

This published picture was taken on a beautiful Winter evening featuring the Belt of Venus/alpenglow highlighting the Needle Mountain Range located in the

San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado.

This year we are receiving near record snowfall which is much needed after last years disastrous drought that led to many wildfires.

So far this Winter we are getting just the opposite with extreme snowfall…  The wildflowers should be spectacular this Summer with low fire danger if this weather keeps up…

Thanks for viewing my site and hope you are able to get out and capture this unprecedented Winter beauty…

June 21, 2018

The 416 fire in my neck of the woods of the San Juan National Forest completely changed my schedule concerning Landscape Photography.  Due to the closed Hwy 550 and all public lands at the time it made going up to the high country to photograph the wildflowers difficult. My problem was insignificant to all the 1,000’s of people who were evacuated from their homes.  Instead of my normal routine this time of year I decided to focus on the wildfire and give my support to the firefighters and affected residents who where fighting a serious battle.  Like many others, I documented the fire and various stages and put together several videos that I hope helped to update those most affected.
Several of my video clips where shown on the NBC Nightly News, Fox News Denver, and various other local and national networks.  I am so happy to report that not a single structure was lost despite over 30,000 acres burned so far, due to the amazingly talented and hard working firefighters and first responders who protected citizens and their property in the most professional and heroic manner.  It has been an honor and privilege to capture them at work, doing what they do best!
Then came the miraculous rain storm out of seemingly nowhere which greatly aided the firefighters and helped to rejuvenate our drought stricken forests. We rarely get rain in June.  It was an answer to prayer! The rains helped to quickly suppress  the fire which reopened all public lands again including the San Juan National Forest.
