It’s  nice living in Southwest Colorado as we are right in the thick of the San Juan Mountains but also just a few hours drive from the beautiful desert regions such as the Canyonlands and many more iconic locations.

It was clouding up fast with a major winter storm approaching around 12 PM when we decided to make a run for Moab, UT. The storm was literally blowing us all the way there with blue sky staying just ahead of us.

When we arrived around 3 PM we had little time to make a quick 2 mile round trip hike to a nice lookout that we hoped would not be covered in clouds. To our great fortune, the clouds had stopped their advance right on the edge of the setting sun. We were blessed by the the golden rays highlighting the great desert floor and all its beautiful features and landmarks.

We were not alone as we shared this incredible view with others fortunate enough to have been there.
